Fort Punta Christo

Explore the fort and the stages below

Each year at Dimensions we’re joined at Fort Punta Christo by some of our favourite labels and promoter friends, who host parties across the site from the beach to the Moat with mighty takeovers. Some of those that joined in 2018 included;  Hessle Audio, Zeezout, Resident Advisor, Stamp The Wax, Make Me, Electrix, Exit Records, JAW Family, bringing acts such as Peggy Gou, Nina Kraviz, Bonobo, Hunee, Jon Hopkins, Ben UFO, Saoirse, Maurice Fulton, Helena Hauff, DJ Stingray and over 100 more to the Adriatic coast.

Our home at Fort Punta Christo is like no other festival site. The abandoned fortress plays host to numerous stages over the course of Dimensions, each unique and catered to specific sounds. From the main stage of The Clearing to The Moat; surrounded by 80ft walls, to the beach-side stage…this site has you covered from day to night to dawn.

Explore the Fort further below…

The Clearing

The main stage at Dimensions Festival; The Clearing’s iconic pyramid and spot lights can been seen from across site.

Across the four nights of Dimensions, visit the Clearing to catch memorable performances from bands, live acts and a host of DJs.

In 2018, the Clearing hosted special live performances from the likes of Azymuth & Marcos ValleMXMJoY [Maximum Joy] and James Holden & The Animal Spirits.

Other highlights from this year at The Clearing include standout sets from Nina Kraviz, Hunee, Avalon Emerson and a mammoth set approaching 8 hours from Bonobo, who closed the stage for the year.

The Moat

Venture into the depths of the Moat with its 80ft towering walls and you’ll be engulfed in sound. Electronic-focused selections and powerful percussive rollers are on the menu here from 9pm-6am, so prepare to tuck in.

Favoured by artists and attendees alike, the Moat is a festival stage like none other. Sound is enhanced by the all-surrounding walls and artists are often driven to play harder by the inimitable atmosphere.

In 2018, the Moat hosted takeovers by Nina Kraviz’s label, Trip Records, and by Zeezout and Hessle Audio

Other artists such as Umfang, Courtesy, Helena Hauff and Detroit in Effect delivered mighty sets at the stage in 2018 and Ben UFO closed the Moat for the year during their Hessle Audio takeover.

The Void

Home to the monstrous Void sound system, this versatile arena plays host to a range of sounds from the dark and electronic to the soulful and sublime. Favoured by numerous DJ’s over the years, The Void is one of our favourite spots on site.

Last year at Dimensions, The Void hosted stage takeovers from Resident Advisor, the J.A.W Family, and Electrix x CPU, who brought along the likes of Lena Wilikens b2b Vladimir Ivkovic, Maurice Fulton, DJ Stingray, Palms TraxJosey Rebelle.

Wrap your ears around recorded sets from the Void in 2018 from Billy Nasty, Silicon Scally aka Carl Finlow, Red Greg and London Modular Alliance: here.

The Beach

The perfect contrast to nights in the Fort: relax by day along the Croatian coast at our Beach Stage with a musical programme running from Weds – Mon from 12pm – 9pm.

Your days will be soundtracked by some of the boldest rising talents and established stars spanning jazz, soul, funk, house and more. Relax to chilled-out beats, dance to energetic live performances and enjoy memorable sunset sets.

Last year, Church of Sound hosted a stage takeover, bringing along Sons of Kemet & Ezra Collective for a day of jazz-influenced energy. We also enjoyed performances from Fatima, Poppy Ajudha, and sunset sets from Palms Trax and Hunee paved the way for more nights back in the Fort.

The Garden

Home to some of the boldest sounds at the festival, the Garden is always the place to let loose and dance the night away to the sounds and selections of some of this years finest DJs.

Expect extended sets and the occasional b2b; as in 2018 where The Garden was closed in style by  a 6-hour Craig Richards b2b Nicholas Lutz special.

Last year the Garden also hosted a takeover by Rex Club, who brought rRoxymore and Peggy Gou to help celebrate their 30 year anniversary.

Other stage highlights include sets from Marcellus Pittman, Moodymann, Margaret Dygas and Sonja Moonear.

The Stables

From beats to basslines – the Stable walls shelter from all other sounds and encase you in the meandering melodies of the musical marvels in which it houses.

Host to previous takeovers from labels including Rush Hour, Stones Throw and more, the Stables are a must-visit destination in the fort.

Last year at Dimensions, Music Is My Sanctuary and Stamp the Wax both hosted stage takeovers in 2018, with STW hosting members from our DJ directory.

Other highlights at the stage include sets from Jon KBatu, Peanut Butter Wolf and Skee Mask.

Subdub Arena

Subdub Arena is the proud home to the Sinai Speaker stacks, which infamously take no prisoners.

If the darker realm of electronic music is your bag, then this is the venue for you. The arena hosts the very best in drum and bass, dubstep, breakbeat and more over the four nights at Dimensions.

Exit Records and Dispatch x 1985 both hosted takeovers of the arena in 2018, bringing along dBridge, Skeptical, Alix Perez, Ant TC1 and many more. You can listen back to live recorded sets from Skeptical and DLR b2b Ant TC1 here.

Mala, DJ Lag and Darwin also delivered powerful sets out through the Sinai Soundystem in 2018.

The Ballroom

The heart of the fort, The Ballroom is by far one of the most unique on-site.

A mere 80 capacity, the ballroom’s tall walls create the perfect space to lose yourself in the music – home to the burgeoning talents and rising selectors – the space has to be experienced to be believed.

During Dimensions 2018, this intimate space was taken over for two nights for a Stamp the Wax x Dimensions DJ Directory showcase. Over 10 of our directory members played, and you can listen back to live recorded sets in the Ballroom from Sam Hall, Nas 1, and Minus Kendalhere
