Ash Lauryn is a DJ, party promoter, and blogger hailing from Detroit, MI who is currently based in Atlanta, GA. Ash specializes in underground dance music, and says most of her influence stems from her roots back home in Detroit. As an active member of the dance music community for over a decade, Ash has hosted her own event series called Orbit, and currently runs a bi-monthly event called Expressions, in addition to being a resident DJ with Atlanta’s Deep South crew. With 2017 being what she calls her “break out year”, Ash dropped mixes for the likes of Rinse FM, NTS Radio, Discwoman, and Honey Soundsystem, to name a few. Her infamous “Black Girls Like Techno Too” mix for Honey Soundsystem received rave reviews, and was selected by Pitchfork as one the top 7 DJ mixes of August. In addition to music, Ash’s other lifelong passion is writing, which she celebrates through her blog “Underground and Black”, where she documents her experiences being an up and coming DJ and Black woman involved in dance music. At this point in her career, the possibilities for expression and musical growth seem endless for Ash, and we cannot wait to see what surprises she has in store for us next.
